Casting cull on EastEnders

Eastenders newcomers Sam Attwater and Emer Kenny will only enjoy a short stint on the show - they're set to leave screens in the coming months.

The pair, who play Leon Small and Zsa Zsa Carter, first appeared in online spin-off E20, before moving into the main show.

But the actors are the latest cast members to be written out by new executive producer Bryan Kirkwood.

He tells Digital Spy, "Emer and Sam have made a real impact in the short time they've been on the Square and we wish them all the best for the future.

"Of course, we look forward to continuing working with Emer in her capacity as a writer on EastEnders: E20."

Other characters who are leaving this year include Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Chelsea Fox (Tiana Benjamin) and Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor).
