Cat Flap: Dead Pet Turned Into Helicopter

An artist has turned his cat into a flying helicopter after it was killed by a car.

Dutchman Bart Jansen stuffed Orville before teaming up with a radio control helicopter expert to attach propellers to each of its four paws.

The cat - named after pioneering aviator Orville Wright - is now a piece of artwork. The "Orvillecopter" is on show at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam.

Jansen said his creation is "half cat, half machine", and part of a visual art project to pay tribute to his pet.

"After a period of mourning he received his propellers posthumously," he said.

The Orvillecopter currently struggles to fly steadily, a problem Jansen has promised to fix.

"He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this hopping will soon change into steady flight."

what do you think?

Even though it's dead, the cat looks terrified. The whole thing is sick.

I think that to cat apult your pet into the air is a cat astrophy, and could make it cat atonic, and could act as a cat alyst for others to act in a copy cat manner.

Just when I thought I'd seen it all. It's one thing to keep a pet as a stuffed animal after death, but to turn it into a toy or an art work is beyond belief.

Taxidermy can be classed as an art form though

Alright, in that form it can be acceptable. But sticking bits on to it and making it into something other than a preserved specimen? Wrong.

He could fit a video camera to Orville then there would be no stopping him going out and roaming the streets hanging out with the other cats. If he fitted him with the bb guns that you can get for model aeroplanes Orville could chase dogs for a change. Jansen could even fly him into the branches of a tree and get him stuck meaning that the fire brigade could come and rescue him Hours of fun

I don't see why people are so horrified - Has everybody forgotten "Bodyworks" - the exhibit of dead human bodies? Has nobody been to a museum to gawp at a mummy (a dead Egyptian). Has nobody handled ivory or carved the Sunday roast? That's all dead animals. Not sure some of the fast food places don't serve Soylent Green but that's another issue entirely.
