Man Charged After Girl Punched To Ground

A man has been charged with assault after a 16-year-old girl was punched in the head in an attack caught on CCTV.
Michael Ayoade, 34, will appear before magistrates on Friday, accused of carrying out the unprovoked attack in Plaistow, east London, on November 13, Scotland Yard said.
CCTV footage showed a man jogging up behind the teenager and smacking her around the head.
The girl was left lying on the ground as her attacker jogged off.
Ayoade, of Greengate Street, Plaistow, remains in custody and will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court.
what do you think?

c.c.t.v why do some people disslike them.and the other 1 every person in britain having there D.N.A. on record.why not if you have nothing to hide i say do it but HOLD THE BUS ,,you start to infringe on the criminals human rights. these camaras over the years have proved to help with crime, and again the only people who dont like them and want them taken away is the crime element..

ali baba
David I am all for big brother style watching you, with the present way things are. But the problem occurs more in the future when governments become more authoritarian, hard handing. Then it would not be such a food thing. George Orwell 1984

Diane Rogers
That's my view as well, nothing to hide nothing to worry about

Tricky One
First i want to say it is great if they have the attacker. However David / Diane, Where does it stop? What is too much? Would you endorse collecting DNA samples of everyone at birth? Or CCTV in your house? Or in childrens changing rooms?

Louisa Gieldon
I am very wary of cctv being taken any further, I know it seems silly to argue against something which helps catch people such as this man, but i wouldn't want any more cameras around. As ali and tricky one have asked, how much is acceptable and when does it become an infringement of privacy. Who monitors this as it seems to be growing by default.

Diane Rogers
Tricky of course not in private houses or kids changing rooms.not sure about dna.But surely cctv in towns and cities is right if it catches criminals

simon calvert
Hey why stop there, why dint we all have a camera put on our head at birth that monitors everything we do every minute of the day, just encase you say, forget to flush a toilet so you can be fined, it is already ridiculous the nothing to hide mentality is ridiculous we already have to much cctv we are the only country in the world that allows so much, we are slowly being controlled like rats in a cage, soon enough will be enough....however I'm glad this vermin has been caught...I hope he gets what's definitely coming and there are no cctv around to catch who does it.

Diane Rogers
If it wasn't for cctv this vermin would probably never have veen caught.Where I live I never notice the cameras

Paul Walsh
What about the 'I have done nothing wrong' side of the argument. Why would I have to have my DNA on record if I am an ordinary law-abiding citizen? Enough is enough with the cctv. The only reason he was caught on cctv is because it occurred outside a pub that had their own system!

Lorgar Aurelian
When i got my head kicked in in a pub it was caught on CCTV however, by the time i convinced the police that yes i was assaulted and they should check the footage the landlady had tried to delete it. CCTV is only as good as the person operating it.

shaun spencer
Why on earth was my comment removed orange.

Louisa Gieldon
I got two removed last night Shaun and i'm still amazed at some of the stuff that gets through ;-)

Paul Grice
It's called BIG BROTHER not free speech

Adj Jackson
I've had a few removed and only one was controversial maybe we should have a day to see who can get the most dodgey comment on here

movvi
I mentioned something about people who can't be "arsed" to do something - and it was allowed. A small victory, but you can't mention any sexuality apart from heterosexual yet, so there's a way to go. Borringe head office will even have running water soon!

hollywoodbowden
He will probably get a fine this is the English justice system

nick
If he was white it would be classed as a rascist attack and he would of got a long sentence, as he isn't he will be treated differently. The law doesn't seem to work both ways.

shaun spencer
Whats race got to do with this.

Louisa Gieldon
Shaun we all know the posters whose main objective seems to be stirring up race hatred every time a victim is a different colour to their attacker

Diane Rogers
If he is of ethnic origin why not say ao

john
Here come the EDL nutjobs again.

Diane Rogers
How would you describe him

movvi
We are all of SOME ethnic origin - so of course he is from ethnic origin. Has the world gone mad or am I just misunderstanding everything?!

Diane Rogers
Movvi if he is from ethnic minority not allowed to say anything else am I

Lorgar Aurelian
Looks like both perp and victim are both black. I may be mistaken it's hard to tell but it shouldn't matter anyway.

Louisa Gieldon
Thank goodness he has been picked up. Hope the wee lass makes a good recovery. It was awful to watch but i do wish we could take the race element out of these discussions/

gengisken1227
Live amoung them do you?

Byron Eckhardt
Better to spend the money on crime prevension,ie more coppers on the beat, than something to catch them after the event.

1950's America beckons !

lol mcr
I'm a bit confused by your comment, what exactly do you mean?

Louisa Gieldon
I thought i was being thick. Couldn't work this out at all

eastonandrea
I was also confused so googled 1950 America punishments and came up with this as i think might be what Ian is commenting about, i could be wrong though: In the mid 1950s, interest in the debate over whether the death penalty should be used resurfaced. Caryl Chessman, a death-row inmate, who wrote several books while in prison, and his first book, his autobiography, entitled Cell 2455, Death Row, was very popular in the United States and around the world. Chessman's case brought the death penalty question back to the forefront of issues facing society. Simultaneously, support for capital punishment was waning as many nations around the world abolished the death penalty.

Louisa Gieldon
Thank you eastonandrea

Lorgar Aurelian
I thought it was something to do with Senator McCarthy's paranoid witch-hunt...

Mark Hussey
Do you mean rise in kkk

Gordon Wright
Can we have a proper sentence this time??. No community service, no probation, no suspended sentences if you please. This was a vicious, unprovoked assault and a long prison sentence must be imposed. Let's see how this big, brave, tough individual fares in prison where there are plenty a lot tougher than him. What's the betting he ends up on the "vulnerable persons" wing for his own protection..........??

movvi
Shameful and appalling. Black, white, spotted or striped; sane or not - this man can't be allowed to do that again.

eastonandrea
Agree.

Lorgar Aurelian
I've no problem with CCTV but i draw the line at my DNA being taken when i have done nothing wrong. I already have to have my retina scanned just to get into my place of work.

eastonandrea
Really? You're really James Bond aren't you, Lorgar is one of your alias's.

Louisa Gieldon
I agree Lorgar. Going too far with dna banks and scanning eyes. All very Blade Runner and too much for my liking

Lorgar Aurelian
Ha, i think Bond's renumeration is slightly better than mine! His success with the ladies sure is! It's one of the 'pleasures' of working in a big airport i'm afraid. They tried to insist we had those National ID cards as well before it sunk. And Louisa, i do believe we are in agreement! Where's that bunting? Ha!

Louisa Gieldon
Lorgar I am genuinely delighted! Roll out that bunting

Dave Harrison
I think the courts should send out a message loud & clear that this sort of unprovoked attack will not be tolerated and impose a prison sentence. I think Micks 20 years is a little excessive but 12 months wouldn't go amiss unless he has form

Diane Rogers

That would mean out in 6....way to lenient have you seen what he did? 5 years should do it.

Diane Rogers
That's what I said but it was removed.i starting to get paranoid rhink that someone doesn't like me very much

bjnk
For a premeditated assault where no weapon is used sentence guidelines is 24weeks to 18 months.

The cctv cameras are not for the criminals they're for people like me that knows what's going on in the world! People like Diane are spoon fed from cradle to grave and don't know any different. Some of us just stay ignorant. If your not doing anything wrong whats the problem she says? This is the argument all the rich people love hearing off us laboratory mice. Ha ha!

davethedalek
I'd hang him! And I mean it!
