Charlie Sheen Opens His Own Bar In Mexico
US actor Charlie Sheen, known as much for his partying as his acting, has opened his own nightspot in a Mexican resort.
A local tourism official confirmed that the colourful Hollywood star was in town to open his new bar, called Epic, at the lavish Hotel El Ganzo in Los Cabos.
Entertainment at a gala opening dinner on Friday was provided by Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash and the mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, was among the guests.
Earlier, Sheen tweeted: "Chilling @hotelelganzo and this place is amazing!! Can't wait to launch the Club Epic tonight ... What a party!"
State Tourism Secretary Ruben Reachi Lugo, who was not invited to the opening, said many celebrities "spend their vacation, celebrate their birthdays or open a new restaurant or new development," in the resort area at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.
The G20 Summit of Heads of State and Government was held in Los Cabos in June 2012.
Sheen, born Carlos Irwin Estevez, was abruptly sacked from his long-running role starring in the television comedy series Two And A Half Men in 2011 after publicly insulting the producer.
Speaking in the summer of his tumultuous departure from the show and the stormy aftermath, he said it was like a dream he could not wake up from.
Or, like "a train I couldn't get off of, except that I was the conductor", he added.
The star, who has a well-documented history of drink and drug problems, said he learned a lot from that period, including "stick to what you know".
He returned to television in 2012, with a somewhat tongue-in-cheek role playing an anger management counsellor with his own issues.
Son of actor Martin Sheen, who appears as his father in Anger Management, and brother of actor Emilio Estevez, Sheen first became famous for his roles in the Vietnam War drama Platoon, and 1980s greed parable Wall Street.
Highlights in his career have also included comedic roles in the Major League movies and Top Gun parodies Hot Shots and Hot Shots: Part Deux.
