Charlotte Church vows to avoid her successful songs

Former child star Charlotte Church has vowed never to perform her signature songs Crazy Chick and Pie Jesu again, insisting her career has been "a bit of a joke".

The Welsh singer shot to fame performing classical piece Pie Jesu at the age of 11 and she became known throughout the world as the 'Voice of an Angel'.

In her late teens she reinvented herself as a pop singer in a desperate bid to shake off her squeaky clean image, and her single Crazy Chick reached Number Two on the charts.

But Church, who is now pursuing a career as a rock singer, has vowed never to revisit her past as she was a "freak child" and "despises" her hit single.

She tells Q magazine, "I've made the mistake in the past of being a bit of a joke and a commodity. A lot of people made money out of me as this freak child who had a big voice in a tiny body.

"I'm not complaining. It's given me a lot and made me who I am in a way. Crazy Chick is the song I despise most, because it was written to exploit the tabloid caricature I had become. That song and Pie Jesu will never pass my lips again."
