Cheryl Cole completes tattoo collection with huge design

Pop star Cheryl Cole is finished with tattoos after having a huge rose design inked onto her back over a painful two-day period.
The Fight For This Love hitmaker stunned fans on the opening night of the Girls Aloud comeback tour in Newcastle on Thursday night when she showed off the massive inking on the small of her back.
The design, two red roses in bloom, was completed after 15 hours in the tattooist's chair over an agonising two days last year, and Cole admits her latest body art will probably be her last.
She tells The Sun, "It was really painful but I think I'm done with tattoos now. It wasn't for any particular reason, I just liked the design. It took 15 hours in total.
"I actually got it five months ago - but it's somewhere on my body you wouldn't expect people to see it very often. It was done by this amazing artist called Nikko Hurtado who basically travels round the world going to conventions."
The star boasts a number of tattoos, including a Polynesian tribal symbol on her hand and barbed wire around her thigh.
what do you think?

Tats are for trashy people

executecodered
Please, put me in touch with your lobotomist, he's done a sterling job on you.

Paul Croxton
Oi my wife has tatoos and she ain't trashy u r just another self righteous judgemental fool

ali baba
their was a time it was for prisoners being bored. paul your wife can always get it lasered my comment was more of a tease for diana :) gotta say some people it suits

Diane Rogers
Paul I thought it was meant for me. Is your wife gonna get more, my next one is being drawn now same for my daughter

Diane Rogers
Ali, please get my name right

Laura Speck
And judging a huge group of people based on one small linking factor is a real class act. Well done sir, you have shown yourself to be a wonderful human being in just one, short, sentence.

steven
I don`t think trashy people is correct, but why have pictures on your skin ?

Diane Rogers
Steven, because they look good.Create and share body art have a look

steven
Body art ? IMHO they look awful, I`ve seen people refused entry to the armed forces because of them. I`ve seen people intimidated by tattoos, particularly some elderly folks.

Juliecrumpton1234
You are really scraping the barrel now, Steven, lol!

Diane Rogers
My daughter and both work in a clothes shop whos customers are mainly elderly we have had no negatives comments

Peter Edwardson
Diana. It's probably because they are to polite to tell you.

Diane Rogers
No Peter, a lot say wow they are nice did it hurt,

Peter Edwardson
I think you made my point. What do you expect people to say. It's a bit like when you see someone with a disability or deformity.

Diane Rogers
Peter, going into the realms of fantasy now.older people tend to say what they think not what people want to hear. Some have said they would never have one but it is up to the individual.

Diane Rogers
If our customers felt intimidated by our tattoos they would not keep coming back to the shop

t.bulgin
Take a good looking woman and disfigure her with tattoos ! I know its a personal taste thing..... personaly, i just don't get it.

steven
I know, I know, she can`t even sing and needs dubbing, why poison what nature gave you, the body is a work of art that took thousands of years to try and perfect and then some fool jabs ink into your skin which protects you. I bet if they cut themselves it`s a different matter though.

romsey1891
I agree TB,a discrete one is ok with me.But there is a fine line between decoration and dis-figuration.

Louisa Gieldon
Romsey i think that sums up how i feel too. Although i kind of like the photo i saw of CC's big roses tattoo. I looked for it expecting to laugh as i am not an admirer of hers but actually thought it was very beautiful

Louisa Gieldon
Women always get criticised more than man for tattoos!

shirley sutton
They look ok when you've got taut skin but terrible on wrinkles but hey everyone to their own

Juliecrumpton1234
Shirley....if you are lucky to live long enough to get wrinkles and also have tattoos, trust me, it won't bother you!

Louisa Gieldon
If the rest of you is wrinkled then the tattoos will be too! It'd look more odd if they were smooth and taut and the rest was lined. Who cares about wrinkles anyway? I don't give a stuff and the wrinkles argument would neer stop me. I'd be more worried about changing my mind about the design, as i'm a fickle sort of soul!

movvi
It is a really pretty design, but for me it wouldn't be on my skin. Considering all the fashions and trends already in my lifetime, I'd never have any one permanently drawn on my skin. I mean, imagine still wearing some of the frights we wore in the 90s or before!

Helen Little
I don't have any tattoos but I don't have anything against them.Personally,I'd feel a bit silly when I'm a pensioner, but that's me.I'd probably only get one for something really meaningful, like my little boy

Diane Rogers
That's what some of mine are my husbands name and my 3 childrens names and in July my first grandchilds name will be added. I'm 56 so growing old disgracefully.

steven
Diane, do you have a photo album ?

Diane Rogers
Yes thanks, photos can get damaged or lost

steven
How can photos get lost, especially if they are so precious.

Juliecrumpton1234
Stop judging Diane, Stephen! Her choice!

Diane Rogers
Stephen, house fire,flood.

That's a bit personal my daughter and I are certainly not tramps

Louisa Gieldon
I agree Diane-horrible horrible term with no male equivalent.

Mark Hussey
Used to be strippers and dancers who had tats .

Diane Rogers
My daughter and I are not either, We just love them

Mark Hussey
Diane sorry my late partner had tats she was a dancer at the paper tiger club .probley a age thing as to maney tats look out of place on a women

Diane Rogers
Mark, that's ok as i said previously i am 56 and still going to get more

Juliecrumpton1234
...and why not, Diane! Love it when people judge!

Diane Rogers
Thanks Juliecrumpton my daughter and I just love them and we think very carefully about designs.

Juliecrumpton1234
And Diane, it's your body, your choices! You go girl! Many many years to come, as long as we can wipe our own b*ms, that will do for me! ;-)

Diane Rogers
Juliecrumpton, exactly if and when i'm in a home it will give the staff something to talk about

Louisa Gieldon
I agree with you ladies = so what if you get older and have tattoos ! Never understood that arguement even if i don't like all of them!

Kelly Lovatt
I dont like them that big. But.......... Dont have anything against them. Personal choice. I had mine 15 years ago, a red rose (my dad's favourite flower) with dad written underneath. Cause my dad died. Wud love another but cant afford

steven
Tatoos, imho look awful on a body, just buy a picture.

Diane Rogers
That's not the same thing is it

steven
It`s exactly the same, one is on the skin, the other is on paper. Both are pictures, I just don`t see the point of tatoos; pain, expense and then what ? a lot are covered up.

Diane Rogers
Isn't art on paper expensive you can hardly carry a farmed picture around with you. And my daughter and I will never have any of ours covered up,we thought about all ours very carefully.

Diane Rogers
And admiration from people

Diane Rogers
One of my daughters says Merry Christmas

steven
Merry christmas is good for a few weeks at the most, that took some thinking about ! I suppose in the depths of winter you have your tatoos on show for all to see ? Admiration ? You pay silly money for a tatoo that says merry christmas and hope that someone will admire it, IMHO

Diane Rogers
Yes they are on show most of the time. My daughter loves Christmas nothing wrong in that, gives people something to talk about

Peter Edwardson
Brain transplant required.

steven
yup

Juliecrumpton1234
...in your opinion, free country, if you don't like tattoos, that's fine, if others do its up to them!

Peter Edwardson
Yep. Definitely my opinion also applies to the addition of plastic bits, metal bits, chemical additions and anything else nature didn't put there.

Juliecrumpton1234
..and you entitled to that opinion! As others are entitled to theirs!

Louisa Gieldon
Peter i don't mind tattoos if they are beautiful and not tacky, but i completely agree with your other points about plastic surgery - there lies madness!

john
An old man said to me many years ago, "Son, never get a tattoo, just look at the state of my arms". His arms were a dirty mass of faded colour, a total mess.

Juliecrumpton1234
Lucky to get old tho! ;-)

Diane Rogers
Depends what you have done and who does it

john
No it doesn't, they all end up looking a dirty mess.

Juliecrumpton1234
It does, John, like many things improve, so does the art of tattooing, it's now done with precision needles, fine artwork is then achieved, unlike years ago when it was all heavy blue ink tattoos, and I would agree with you, they were pretty awful!

Diane Rogers
John, how many have you got to know how they are later in life

Louisa Gieldon
I think it's technically more advanced now John. We tend to think of tattoos as "Chavvy" but they are as old as mankind itself. Celtic, viking, polynesian. maori, indian, middle eastern history shows us the cultural and spititual importance of tattoos. Black cultures tended not to be big on tattoos because dark skin doesn't showcase them in the same way. So in African countries, scarification, piercings, lip augmentation and nose and ear decoration took precedence. Also the services, merchant navy and prison cultures embraced tattooing. Its dead interesting!

Louisa Gieldon
People have always tattooed themselves. Some ancient tribal tattoes are fantastic. I hate some and like others but tattooists are definitely more skilled and artistic than they once were. I hate the tacky ones, i'm afraid, but have seen many that are lovely. Pity Orange didn't show a picture of the rose tattoo as it was beautiful, if very large! I agree with the comments about the desperation to show them off -off the shoulder tops and skimpy clothes in winter just so they are on show. I like it best when people don't talk about their tattoos unless they are asked.

Diane Rogers
I would say have a look at Oranges page that shows peoples tattoos, see how fantastic they can look

Louisa Gieldon
I had a wee look and though i think many are really tacky there are a few that are very beautiful. The drum with roses and the big virgin mary are gorgeous but too bid for me. Maybe i could go for a smaller version

Diane Rogers
Can you guess which are mine and my daughters. You get one girl.

Louisa Gieldon
Are you in the photos? I'm rubbish at guessing games!

Diane Rogers
If you are looking at correct page. I come from Shrewsbury and support them and Liverpool football club. That should tell you.

happymike CHESTER
