Chloe Sevigny cried over transgender appearance in TV show

Actress Chloe Sevigny sobbed for days on the set of new TV drama Hit & Miss as she was fitted with a prosthetic penis.

The Boys Don't Cry star admits it was emotionally challenging for her to portray a transgender assassin and she couldn't get used to her masculine look.

She tells TV Guide magazine, "(I cried) every time I wore it. It was seven separate days of filming.

"Putting it on took two hours. I shaved myself and they had to glue it on, paint it and pull away the skin to make it seamless. It's a tedious process, and it's hard having someone so close to your private parts for an extended period of time who you're not having sex with.

"Having it on and looking at yourself is oddly disturbing. I felt like a freak."

what do you think?

A a woman of transsexual history myself, I found Sevigny in 'Hit and Mss' quite amazing. To read her saying how wearing the prosthesis made her feel a freak fits perfectly. That's exactly how looking like that felt to me, for the 20 years I was forced to live like that. She had the role perfectly. I have to correct your description though - she never looked masculine, only male, when the prosthesis was seen. The idea of a transsexual woman being a sociopath assassin wasn't either believable, or acceptable though, but that wasn't Savigny's fault. The fact that there's quite a stereotype developing of trans women doing such things (think 'Dressed to Kill') makes it worse.
