Jim Davidson Re-Arrested On Sex Offence Claims

Comedian Jim Davidson has been re-arrested over fresh allegations of sexual offences, it has emerged.
The 59-year-old answered bail today after he was held in January by detectives working on Operation Yewtree, the national investigation prompted by the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said a 59-year-old man had been "further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with further allegations made to Operation Yewtree".
Davidson's solicitor Henri Brandman said that the comedian "vigorously denies" all the allegations against him.
Mr Brandman said: "Several women have made allegations in respect of Jim that date back on average 20 years, one dating back 35 years.
"The complainants were all adults at the time of the alleged events. Jim vigorously denies the allegations.
"He answered police questions as fully as he is able after this passage of time. He has not been charged with any offences."
Davidson was arrested on January 2 in west London, along with a 53-year-old who was held in Hampshire.
They both answered bail and were released until May.
In January, Mr Brandman issued a statement relating to the initial allegations, which were made by two women in relation to alleged events 25 years ago.
He said at the time: "The complainants were then in their mid-20s. Jim vigorously denies the allegations.
"He answered police questions as fully as he was able after this passage of time."

It was a different situation in those days. Now men are made to feel dirty old men.Today if a man ignores a woman or doesn't make a pass at her, society deems this man a g.y boy

YOU are a dirty old man ,I found it disgusting back in the 60`s the way SOME men thought women were just play things for them to molest . With the help of women's- lib attitudes have changed for the better.

Not a Catholic Priest then? Lets ban comedy.

Robbie369P .
They were all adults and it happened 20 to 35 years ago??

robert you say it all - all should remember he is innocent till proven guilty and how ever this turns out his career is ruined like the others accused

Pauline Dickenson
Think there should be a statute of limitations, why did these women wait 20 - 35 years to complain? Does not make sense. How on earth can these accusations be proved now. Surely they will not just take their word for this, there has to be proof in law . Or is it all about compensation - money - don't know quite what to think........................

Gordon Wright
This is something I have often wondered about Pauline. How is it possible to prove these allegations after so long?? There can be no forensic evidence and unless there is other evidence, such as witnesses, I fail to see how a guilty verdict is possible. It appears to be a case of one persons word against another............. Under these circumstances, it would appear impossible to prove. Perhaps the authorities are simply going throught the motions because of the "Saville effect"...........

35 years ago this is getting ridiculous now surely they would have said something before now know I would have done

George Clement
It's possible like in the Savile case some of these people did complain at the time to the police and as in the Savile case did nothing.
