Craig Revel Horwood offers to help revive ailing X Factor

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has urged his arch-nemesis Simon Cowell to get in touch, insisting he would be able to bring The X Factor back to life.

Cowell's talent show has taken a battering in the ratings this year compared to the BBC hit, which entices on average two million more viewers each weekend.

Last weekend was no different, with Strictly pulling in 11.5 million, while The X Factor only managed 9.15 million, and acid-tongued Revel Horwood insists TV fans are bored of the tactics Cowell uses to attract audiences.

He tells The Sun, "I could save his show easily. I know what's wrong with it and what the solution is, so it's only a phone call away for him!

"The X Factor's biggest issue is that it's transparent - there aren't any surprises. You could easily write the script yourself then just see it play out on television.

"Strictly is not scripted, I don't script arguments. I never know how the other judges are going to vote or what they are going to say and that's what I love about it. That's what the audience appreciates."
