Cyndi Lauper axes book signing over storm fears

Cyndi Lauper has cancelled a book signing in New York City as the area prepares for another incoming storm.

America's East Coast was battered by superstorm Sandy last week and as the clean-up operation continues, residents in New York and New Jersey have been warned to brace themselves for more high winds and heavy rain.

Lauper was due to sign copies of her new autobiography, Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir, at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in New Jersey on Wednesday, but the singer has now cancelled the event over the storm warning.

A post on her Twitter.com page reads, "The instore at Barnes and Noble in New Jersey is cancelled do to (sic) another big storm. Please stay safe and don't drive in it. Thanks x Cyn."
