Daniel Day-Lewis set for Santa Barbara Film Festival honour
Daniel Day-Lewis is set to be feted at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in California next month as the recipient of the prestigious Montecito Award.
The actor, who is hotly-tipped to land a Best Actor nomination for the 2013 Academy Awards, will follow in the footsteps of previous honourees Geoffrey Rush, Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet and Javier Bardem when he accepts the top prize on 26 January.
Roger Durling, the festival's executive director, says, "Daniel Day-Lewis continues to inspire the industry and the public by his approach to tackling the most complex of characters and delivering brilliant performances time after time."
Amy Adams was recently announced as the winner of the Cinema Vanguard Award, while Ben Affleck will be presented with the Modern Master Award at the annual event, which will run from 24 January to 3 February.
