Dappy found guilty of assault and affray

Former N-Dubz star Dappy has been found guilty of assault and affray.

The rapper was slapped with three counts of assault and an affray charge stemming from a brawl at a gas station in Surrey last February.

The star - real name Costadinos Contostavlos - pleaded not guilty and the case went to trial last week.

In the opening statements, it was claimed the 25 year old sparked the fight by allegedly spitting at two teenage females after they labelled him "boring", but Contostavlos took to the stand at Guildford Crown Court and claimed he had been victimised "for being famous".

On Thursday, the rapper was found guilty of affray and assault by beating, which involved him spitting at a man.

Contostavlos was cleared of two charges of common assault related to the allegations he spat at the women.

Another defendant, Kieran Vassell, 25, of west London, was also found guilty of affray, while Kalonji Stewart, 32, from Birmingham was found not guilty of the same charge. A fourth man, Alfred Miller, 28, of west London, had earlier pleaded guilty to affray and his sentencing was adjourned to be carried out at a later date.

The star took to his Twitter.com page after the verdict was delivered and told fans, "Not guilty for spitting at the females but guilty for defending myself from the 3 males!!!! This ain't right."

Contostavlos and Vassell will remain free on unconditional bail until their sentencing on 15 February.
