Dave Lee Travis taken off air

Veteran DJ Dave Lee Travis has been taken off air by radio station bosses as he fights allegations of sexual abuse.
The former BBC Radio 1 legend was arrested by cops on Thursday as part of a probe into wide-ranging allegations against late TV star Sir Jimmy Savile.
The presenter, who has previously denied any wrongdoing, was released on bail on Thursday evening but his bosses at the Magic AM station have now pulled his regular weekend show until the case is resolved.
In a statement, a spokeswoman for Bauer Media, which owns the station, says, "Following the arrest and release on police bail of Dave Lee Travis, Bauer Media has decided to take him off air with immediate effect from his Magic AM weekend shows, which broadcast across the north.
"We understand that the allegations about which he was questioned by police pre-date his time as a freelance contributor to Magic AM. While we can make no judgment on the matters under investigation, we believe it would be inappropriate for him to broadcast until they are resolved."
Lee Travis is the latest high-profile star to be arrested since it emerged Savile, who died last year, may have abused more than 300 youngsters during his heyday. Others held by cops and released on bail include pop star Gary Glitter and funnyman Freddie Starr.
