Dog Tortured And Burned To Death In Sheffield

Police are appealing for help from the public after a dog was tortured and killed in Sheffield.

The body of the badly beaten Staffordshire bull terrier was found on a path off Manor Laith Road in the Skye Edge area of the city.

Officers believe after being severely beaten, the light-coloured male dog was tied to a tree and set on fire sometime between February 18 and 24.

Police said they believe the dog "suffered terribly" before it died.

Now officers are trying to trace the dog's owners as well as the perpetrators.

"Police would like to speak to anyone that may have seen this dog in the area at this time, or who may have lost a dog that fits this description," a spokesman said.

:: Anyone with any information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 488 of 24 February 2013. Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Agree, i read somewhere that people start with animals then move onto children. Sick people/person needs caught, jailed and then jail style justice.

Yes - we SHOULD be upset about abuse, whether of children or animals (or adults for that matter). It's always wrong.

Is that a question? Should you get upset over a dog? The short answer is YES. It is not just a dog. It's life, a life that can experience pain and fear just as any human can. You can both be concerned and upset over both children and animals. My question is why should compassion have a limit? I hope that the authorities catch these 'people'.

Poor poor dog, yes we should all get upset, it has a heart, feelings and feels pain, so unbelievably cruel...btw,I don't think malkie man meant anything bad by his comment, I took it as a despairing statement about the way of the world, he did sympathise over the poor dog....

yes you should get upset Malkie Man because people who can do this to a dog could just as easily do it to a child. They obviously have no feelings. Many serial killers start out by killing animals

Yep we should- most psychopaths begin their career on animals and there's a real correlation between cruelty to animals and cruelty to people.

this is sick and the people that have done this should be found and put away for a very long time and if we still had capital punishment they should be put down as they will go on to other sick things and children are not safe when these people are around they are a danger to us all find them quick and deal with them a eye for a eye
