Dozens Injured As School Stage Collapses
Up to 40 people have been injured after part of a stage collapsed at a high school in California, fire officials have said.
Firefighters and medics received a call shortly before 11pm local time on Saturday after the section gave way at Servite High School in Anaheim.
Around 250 girls from Rosary High School in nearby Fullerton were performing on the stage, ABC7 Eyewitness News reported.
Madi Sutherland, who claimed to have been on stage at the time, wrote on Twitter: "Gonna be a sleepless night of that moment replaying in my head and worrying about all my friends."
Most of the injuries are minor and none of them are life-threatening.
Investigators are at the scene trying to determine the cause of the collapse.
In a joint statement, the two schools said: "On Saturday night during Rosary High School's Production of Red and Gold at Servite High School, a portion of the stage collapsed. Injured students were transported to local hospitals.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the students and their families."
