Driver's Fury As Drag Car Explodes Around Him

Video has emerged of a drag racing car bursting into flames at 260mph - only to have its furious driver throw a tantrum after walking away unscathed.

Matt Hagan appeared uninjured after the dramatic explosion at the Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the weekend.

Footage shows the carbon fibre shell of his "funny car" class of drag racing vehicle ripple as the engine explodes.

Hagan's helmet can be seen through the flames as everything but the bonnet of the car is torn away by the explosion.

The driver does not even appear to duck from the flames as he somehow maintains control of the car and brings it to a halt.

Only then does emotion take over.

However, it is not relief at being alive, but anger at his failure to complete the qualifying heat that engulfs Hagan as he climbs from the still-smouldering shell of the car.

The footage shows him hurling a piece of wreckage to the ground in fury before stalking off.

Reports claimed it was the third year in a row that his car has blown up during the Nationals.

what do you think?

Well I guess that I wouldn't be too happy either. Particularly if I had left my bag of mints in the door pocket.

Guess that I would not be very happy if my car blew up ! He should count his blessings that he was not badly burnt.

Instead of throwing a pathetic tantrum, he should count his blessings that he survived unscathed. Also, he should consider why this is the third time as he may run out of luck!

I dont see why this made the news i mean i have watched this sport for many years and its comon for this sort of thing to happen its why they ware many layers of fire proof clothing. Its good he got out unharmed however when you relise what the owners do to these cars to make them go so fast they realy only have them self to blame when they blow up. One example of the things they do they take the engine put it into a milling machine and literaly remove somtimes up to 50% of the engine alloy with the aim of making it as light as posable the problem with this is this alloy is there for a reason as in to give the engine strenght but the milling prosses makes it structuraly weak and pron to falure.
