Duchess Of Cambridge Celebrates 32nd Birthday
The Duchess of Cambridge will spend her 32nd birthday today "in private" with close family and friends.
After a year which saw Kate become a mother to a future Monarch, the Duchess is set for a more low-key birthday celebration alongside husband Prince William and six-month-old George.
Kensington Palace would comment little on Kate's plans for the day other than to say: "The Duchess of Cambridge is spending her birthday privately."
After a busy period for the family Cambridge - Prince George's first Christmas with the Queen in Sandringham, and New Year at the Middleton home in Bucklebury - Kate's birthday is likely to be London based.
It's unclear whether husband William, who this week began a 10-week executive course at Cambridge University, or sister Pippa have organised a surprise get-together in the evening.
The Duchess' sister Pippa and mother Carole Middleton were both independently spotted in recent days shopping in central London including at one of Kate's favourite stores, Peter Jones on the King's Road.
During the past year Kate stepped up her public engagements despite the media's interest in the so-called "bump-watch".
After an at-times difficult pregnancy due to acute morning sickness, Kate gave birth to the healthy fourth in line to the throne in July last year.
Photographs featuring the family Cambridge taken by Kate's father Michael followed soon afterwards and three months later, close family and Godparents christened George Alexander Louis in the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace.
By September, Prince William decided to spend more time by Kate's side after stepping down from his role in the Royal Air Force as a search as rescue pilot.
Within just a few months mum Kate was back out on royal duties - without Prince George - and with barely a hint of a post-birth bump.
The Cambridges are now setting their sights on a busy period from February including their first tour as a family to New Zealand and Australia in April.
Whichever way Kate celebrates her birthday today, unlike during her pregnancy last year, she can at least enjoy a glass of bubbly.
