Duck Dynasty Patriarch: 'Marry Young Girls'
Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been caught in new controversy after a video showed him advising a group of men to marry girls "when they are 15 or 16".
Robertson, 67, had already caused a storm with derogatory comments about homosexuals in an interview with GQ magazine.
He was briefly suspended from the show amid the row, but has since been reinstated.
In a new video that has surfaced online, Robertson says: "You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They'll pick your ducks.
"Look, you wait until they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that's going to take place is your pocket," he says, drawing laughs from the audience.
The video reportedly dates back to 2009 and shows Robertson speaking to a group of men at a Georgia event.
Robertson married his wife, Kay, when she was 16, according to a biography of the woman on the website of the family's business, Duck Commander.
In the interview with GQ, Robertson was asked what he thought was sinful.
He replied: "Start with homosexual behaviour and just morph from there."
He was also quoted as saying: "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers - they won't inherit the kingdom of God."
A&E channel said it was disappointed after reading Robertson's remarks in GQ, but stressed they were his personal views and did not reflect those of the network.
Reality show Duck Dynasty ranks among the most-watched US cable television programmes and averages around eight million viewers per episode.
Its fifth season is due to begin on January 15.
The show follows the family and their multimillion-dollar business, which supplies duck-hunting equipment from their home town of West Monroe.
