'Ecstasy Death': Tributes To 16-Year-Old Boy
A 16-year-old schoolboy has died after taking ecstasy at a rave, it is thought.
Daniel Spargo-Mabbs was taken to hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning after going to an event at a warehouse in west London.
Paramedics were called shortly before 4am after the youngster lost consciousness at the rave in Hayes.
He was taken to hospital, but died on Monday.
Daniel's father Tim described him on Tuesday as "a lovely mercurial kid".
Mr Spargo-Mabbs, 50, said: "He was up for adventure. He was a really normal kid. He spent a bunch of his spare time with his girlfriend and played a lot on his Xbox.
"This was the first time he'd taken anything and if it could happen to him it could happen to anyone."
Mr Spargo-Mabbs added that Daniel's girlfriend, a fellow pupil at Archbishop Tenison's Church of England High School in Croydon, had been left "traumatised" by his death.
A spokesman for the Met Police said: "Police were called ... to reports of an unconscious 16-year-old male at an illegal rave in an industrial site at Pump Lane, Silverdale Road, Hayes.
"(The) boy was taken by London Ambulance Service to Hillingdon hospital believed to be suffering from the effects of a drugs overdose.
"He was later transferred to Kings College hospital where he died on Monday, 20 January.
"Officers closed the illegal rave down. No arrests were made."
Richard Parrish, the headteacher at his school, said Daniel was in his first year of studying for his A-levels.
He said: "He was a bright boy, he was an articulate boy, he was a boy of huge potential. He was going to go far.
"We are still stunned. We're just beginning to emerge from that."
Two men have been charged with drugs offences by police.
