Ex-Weatherman Talbot In Court On Sex Charges
Former This Morning weatherman Fred Talbot has appeared in court charged with a string of sex offences.
The former teacher, from Bowden, Cheshire, faces nine counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.
Talbot was charged last month following an investigation into offences allegedly committed between 1968 and 1983.
The allegations have been made by five male complainants, three of whom claim to have been under 16 at the time of the alleged abuse.
Talbot briefly appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday on the opening day of court proceedings.
The 64-year-old, who was a regular on the floating weather map in Liverpool's Albert Dock for ITV's This Morning, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
Police have previously said that six of the nine indecent assault charges involved one victim who was a pupil at a school in Newcastle.
The remaining charges relate to four alleged victims at another school.
Talbot, who has been granted bail, is due back in court on March 4 for a preliminary hearing.
