FBI Probes Death Threats Over Rhino Hunt Permit

The FBI is investigationg death threats made against members of the Dallas hunting club that intends to auction off a rare permit to kill an endangered black rhino.

The Dallas Safari Club says it expects to fetch $1m for the permit that has been granted by the Namibian government.

Club officials say all the money will go towards rhino conservation efforts.

FBI spokeswoman Katherine Chaumont says the agency is reviewing multiple threats against members of the club including Executive Director Ben Carter and his family.

The auction is part of the club's annual convention in Dallas.

Wildlife groups say the hunting of an endangered animal is inappropriate.

But Mr Carter says it is meant to cull aggressive rhinos and protect the larger herd.
