Fire That Killed Two In Leeds Was Arson

A fire that killed a man and a woman in Galforth, Leeds, was "arson", say West Yorkshire Police.

Rescuers found one person dead at the scene in Farfield Court, yesterday evening, while a man was taken to hospital with serious burns.

The man later died of his injuries, police said.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Jon Morgan of Protective Services Crime said: "We are treating this incident as suspicious, however; we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this enquiry.

"Whilst we are not in a position to release the identifications of the deceased, I can confirm that they are the male and female occupants of the address.

"We continue to liaise with fire investigators as well as the coroners office."

The blaze comes after three children and two adults died in a another house fire in Sheffield this week.

A nine-week-old baby was among the dead in the fire, which broke out in the early hours of Monday.
