Footballers Set To Face Sex Assault Retrial

Four footballers are likely to face a retrial for sexual assault after a jury failed to reach verdicts and was discharged.

Jurors at the Old Bailey had deliberated for 25 hours and 23 minutes.

The five men and seven women were only able to agree one verdict, finding LewisDunk not guilty of voyeurism.

Brighton and Hove Albion players Dunk, Anton Rodgers, George Barker, and former team-mate Steve Cook, who now plays for Bournemouth, denied sexual assault and voyeurism.

They were alleged to have assaulted a 19-year-old woman in a Brighton hotelroom in July 2011.

The woman claimed she fell asleep following a drunken night out clubbing andsaw photographs of the incident on Rodgers' mobile phone.

The players told the Old Bailey there was nothing sexual in what went on andthe woman was awake during most of the "boy banter".

Prosecutor Richard Barton told the court he would seek a retrial, provisionallyset for April 22, after discussing it with the complainant.
