Freddie Starr Arrested Over New Sex Allegation

Freddie Starr has been rearrested after a new sexual offence allegation was made to police investigating the Jimmy Savile scandal.

The 71-year-old comedian attended a police station in Warwickshireafter the claim was made to detectives working on Operation Yewtree.

The inquiry, which is being led by the Metropolitan Police, has been split into three strands - allegations against Savile, those against Savile and others, and those against others.

Starr was arrested in November 2012 on suspicion of sexual offences and taken into custody.

Those allegations fell under the "Savileand others" strand of the investigation.

He was arrested again in April 2013 over further claims not related to Savile.

Scotland Yard said the latest arrest also falls under the "others" part of its inquiry.

Starr, who has denied any wrongdoing, has been released on bail until February pending further inquiries in relation to all allegations against him.
