Freddie Starr Rearrested Over Sex Abuse Claims
Freddie Starr has been arrested for a fourth time over historical allegations of sex abuse.
The 71-year-old comedian answered police bail on Wednesday and was informed he faces further claims under Operation Yewtree.
This inquiry was launched after allegations of abuse were made against the former BBC DJ Jimmy Savile.
Starr was first arrested in November 2012 over allegations relating to Savile.
The three further arrests since then relate to claims that have no link to Savile, who died in 2011.
Scotland Yard did not name Starr, but said in a statement: "Today 'Yewtree 2' was further arrested after returning to a police station to answer bail.
"The arrest relates to further allegations made to Operation Yewtree, which falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'others'.
"We are not prepared to discuss further."
The Yewtree investigation has three strands: claims involving Savile, those involving Savile and others, and those concerning others.
Starr, who denies any wrongdoing, has been released on bail until April.
