Freddie Starr Bailed By Jimmy Savile Police
Freddie Starr has been released on bail for a second time after being questioned by police investigating the Jimmy Savile scandal.
The 69-year-old returned to speak to officers earlier today having been first arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexual offences.
His next bail date has not yet been revealed by Scotland Yard.
Starr, from Warwickshire, was released at around 5.20pm. He has consistently denied any involvement in the alleged abuse.
Last month he branded Savile "despicable" and "disgusting", and urged police to interview him so he could clear his name.
His release came as solicitor Liz Dux said three hospitals - Stoke Mandeville, Leeds General Infirmary and Broadmoor - are facing possible legal action.
Savile's estate and the BBC are also facing action.
Ms Dux, representing more than 20 alleged victims, said notice had been sent to "all interested parties" of an intention to pursue claims against them.
She said: "Their main objective is to get answers as to why their previous complaints weren't listened to, to get some sort of compensation and to move on with their lives."
Lawyers are also looking into the late presenter's overseas assets, thought to be administered from the Channel Islands, a tax haven.
Savile's estate, reportedly worth £4.3m, has been frozen in response to the mounting allegations.
Savile's relatives said they do not want a penny of his estate and called for the cash to be donated to an organisation to tackle sex crimes.
Starr's arrest follows that of Gary Glitter on Sunday by officers working on Operation Yewtree.
Former pop star Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was questioned at a central London police station after being detained at his home in the capital.
Savile, who died last year at the age of 84, is now believed to have been one of the UK's most prolific abusers, with about 300 possible victims.
Scotland Yard is leading a national investigation into the television and radio star's activities.
Detectives are following 400 lines of inquiry, while the BBC has launched an inquiry into the culture and practices at the corporation.
It is also looking at the decision-making process which saw a Newsnight investigation into Savile's activities shelved.
The review, led by Nick Pollard, former head of Sky News, will report back on its findings later this month.

In response to jane about a comment left about me earlier.i have never once said that i believed EVERY girls claim or persons for that matter,but unlike diane i will not and never will try to discount a person as soon as a story breaks.the people that are probably lying and lets face it they will be a small minority will be found out sooner or later but untill that time every accusation or statement deserves to be looked at with an open mind and respect for the vast majority that are telling the truth.in my opinion dianes views and attitude are ignorant, damaging and indicative of why so many didnt come forward for so many years

Kerry I totally agree with you. I know someone who was abused as a child and even now 20+ years later is too scared go to the police even with support. & this person wasnt famous. Until you are im those shoes you cannot know how people cope or where the bravery comes from to act

Kelly thank you.it takes a massive amount of energy to even admit this kind of thing even to yourself.people deal with abuse in differant ways.i told no1 until i was 18 even tho one of the people that abused me went to prison for doing the same to another family member.i didnt accept it for years but it ultimiteley made me a much stronger person.but the thought of any1 knowing terrified me.any1 that says they dnt get why people didnt come forward untill now has no idea how it feels and should keep that opinion to them selves.kelly i really hope your friend finds the courage to do what she thinks is best for her.what ever her decision i think she has good support from you.

Kerry i understand your passion and have spent four weeks explaining to doubting folk like D how difficult it is to disclose your abuse. I was abused aged ten and kept quiet for decades. it's horrible to read harsh opinions but don't get riled by it

Havnt been on for a bit, but I'm pleased that Kerry is still standing her ground, with Diane, we agreed to disagree, basically because at a very young age, she has admitted that she was very forward, knew what she was doing, and probably think all girls must be this way? However, these other victims were vulnerable, probably looking for attention, any attention, and JS took full advantage, him and many others, I think Kerry you and Diane will have to agree to disagree as I have, because I think a dead horse is being flogged!

Newnight last night brought up the case of an unnamed senior minister in Thatchers government who was abusing children brought to London from a Welsh childrens home and the subsequent official enquiry that focused only on abuse in the childrens home, thus protecting paedophiles in high places who were supplied with children to abuse elsewhere. This is why we are probably getting the mass over the top coverage of Savile etc, they are trying to hide the beasts at the top of society.
