Gareth Bale Scores Goal On Real Madrid Debut
Gareth Bale, the world's most expensive player, has scored on his debut for Real Madrid as his side drew 2-2 with Villarreal.
The 24-year-old scored shortly before half-time when he raced into the six-yard box and beat his marker to convert Dani Carvajal's cross.
Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the players to race up to congratulate the £85m Welshman after he levelled the scoreline at 1-1.
Bale's debut finished on 61 minutes when he was replaced by Angel Di Maria - but the match will have helped boost the winger's match fitness.
Despite their potent strikeforce, Real eventually finished up with a draw.
Ronaldo put Madrid ahead in the 63rd minute - his 203rd goal in 203 games - but Giovani Dos Santos, another ex-Spurs man, secured a point for the home side just seven minutes later.
With the burden of scoring his first goal quickly off his back, the winger may feel a slight easing of pressure.
But Madrid's fans will be looking for the former Tottenham player to find the net on a regular basis if he is to justify his price tag and compete with Ronaldo's phenomenal strike rate.
Bale has signed a six-year contract with the star-studded Bernab?club, whose squad also includes the likes of Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema.
