Gerard Depardieu puts Paris home on the market

French star Gerard Depardieu is inching ever closer to a tax break move to Belgium after putting his Paris home on the market.

The Green Card star has been accused of trying to escape the taxman by buying a house in the Belgian village of Nechin, just minutes from the French border.

Local mayor Daniel Senesael has confirmed Depardieu's plans and now the actor is selling his early 19th-century manor house in the Saint Germain district of Paris.

The property features on a list of protected national monuments, according to Reuters, and was once a theatre.

Details about the actor's listing price have not been disclosed.
