Geri Halliwell to rejoin The X Factor

Geri Halliwell is set to spice up The X Factor when she joins the panel for one night only.

Ginger Spice will join the rest of the judges at the first round of auditions in Liverpool on Wednesday.

She's one of several famous faces ITV bosses have recruited as stand-ins after last-minute negotiations with Dannii Minogue fell through.

Robbie Williams, Tinie Tempah, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart and Gwen Stefani are among the big names being tipped to take the fourth seat that Kelly Rowland left empty.

Producers have four weeks to find a permanent judge to join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh.

It's not the first time Geri has been drafted onto the talent show - she covered for Dannii in 2010 when the Aussie star was on maternity leave.

On that occasion, fans were less than impressed with her comments, and booed her after one particularly harsh criticism.

A source told The Sun: "This is a new panel and Geri might have better chemistry with them. Guest stars bring excitement but they are also a gamble."
