Girl's Facebook Post Costs Florida Dad $80k
A daughter who bragged about her dad's court settlement on Facebook has cost him $80,000.
Patrick Snay, 69, sued Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami for age discrimination and won $10,000 in back pay and an $80,000 settlement.
There was just one condition: MráSnay had to keep the deal secret.
However, his daughter Dana made the mistake of telling her 1,200 Facebook friends.
It looks set to be one of the costliest Facebook posts ever.
"Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver," the teen told her cyber pals.
"Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT."
The post seems likely to cost Mr Snay the entire $80,000 (ú47,750).
The school never paid the settlement, saying Snay broke his confidentiality agreement - and a Florida appeals court has agreed.
"Snay violated the agreement by doing exactly what he had promised not to do," the judge wrote.
"His daughter then did precisely what the confidentiality agreement was designed to prevent."
The father can still appeal to the Florida Supreme Court.
The confidentiality agreement meant he could not tell his daughter, but Mr Snay says he "needed to tell her something".
He accused the school during the court case of retaliating against him through her - and that she had "psychological scars".
