Great News, Sweetie: Ab Fab Will Be A Film
A big screen version of Absolutely Fabulous is in the pipeline, its creator Jennifer Saunders has revealed.
The actress won a TV Bafta award at Sunday's ceremony for her role as Edina Monsoon in a special Christmas edition of the show.
After collecting the award, she spoke of her plans to get the cast together to start shooting a film version of the show next year.
She said: "We've made the Olympics one and it goes out a week before the Olympics. We might make a film next year.
"It's so hard to get everybody together for that amount of time, but hopefully..."
Saunders appeared surprised at winning Best Female Performance in a Comedy programme, telling the audience: "Thank you for still finding it funny."
She last won a Bafta for the show in 1993.
The actress, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2009, resurrected the show last year after a break of six years.
Saunders said it was not difficult getting back into character as Eddy.
"She's such a part of me anyway that actually its hard to shake her off."
Absolutely Fabulous first aired in 1992.
It also stars Joanna Lumley, June Whitfield and Julia Sawalha.
