Green Day headlining Reading and Leeds festivals
Rockers Green Day have confirmed they will be returning to the Reading and Leeds festivals a day after staging their comeback gig in California.
The punk trio performed its first of four warm-up shows prior to a major North American tour on Sunday night - the Pomona gig marked the band's return to the stage following frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's meltdown at a show in Las Vegas last year, which led to the singer checking into rehab to address substance abuse and alcohol issues.
And now, Green Day are heading back to one of Britain's leading festivals.
The group will join Biffy Clyro and Eminem at the top of the bill for the event, which will be staged at two sites in August.
Johnny Marr, Nine Inch Nails, Bastille, Editors, Phoenix and The Lumineers are also lined up.
Green Day last headlined the festival in 2010.
