Green Party MP Arrested At Fracking Protest
Green Party MP Caroline Lucas has been arrested after taking part in an anti-fracking protest in West Sussex.
Ms Lucas was among several demonstrators arrested after staging a protest outside the gates of energy firm Cuadrilla's drilling site in Balcombe.
The arrests came as opponents of the controversial process for extracting shale gas also blockaded Cuadrilla's headquarters in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
And in London, others superglued themselves to the glass door of PR firm Bell Pottinger's office which is used by the company.
Campaigners have pledged to stage two days of "mass civil disobedience" to highlight their stance against fracking.
In Sussex, police served a notice under Section 14 of the Public Order Act and started forcibly clearing demonstrators.
The law is used when they believe the crowd could cause public disorder, serious damage to property or serious disruption to the life of the community.
