Guardians Star Saldana: Girls Kick Ass Best
Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Zoe Saldana has told Sky's Entertainment Week that there aren't enough action hero roles for women.
Saldana, who plays green-skinned assassin Gamora, said: "There's just something more entertaining about watching two girls kick the c**p out of each other and it's very empowering for young women as well."
In the film Saldana also fights Rocket - a gun-toting, genetically-modified Raccoon played by Bradley Cooper, who she described as "annoying".
"The raccoon wasn't really there so you're either hitting a puppet or thin air. You ask many technical questions to get it right, but in the end when you see it you just go - oh my God! I love special effects for that."
Vin Diesel, who voiced tree-like humanoid Groot had just three words of script to learn for the film: "I am Groot."
"It was a challenge as an artist and a thespian, creating a character that had to hit an emotional chord with not only the inability to use facial expressions and body physicalities, but the inability to have a vocabulary."
Diesel admitted his kids chose this role for him and love his performance.
"It's the first film I've taken my kids to see ... so it was special ... The wisdom of children is the most profound we've got."
Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill, leader of the Guardians, said all the 1980s dance moves in the film are strictly his own.
His character struggles throughout the film to persuade his peers to call him "Star-Lord" rather than Quill.
Chris confessed he has his own nickname, "Monkeyboy", among his friends and family.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is in cinemas now.
