Hot Air Balloon 'Catches Fire And Crashes'
One body has been recovered and two people remain missing after a hot air balloon hit a power line, caught fire and crashed.
Virginia State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said searchers are continuing to look for two other occupants of the balloon.
The accident took place on Friday night in Caroline County.
A pilot and two passengers were on board.
According to several witness accounts, the basket caught fire. However, police have not yet found any wreckage.
Carrie Hager-Bradley said she saw the balloon in flames and heard people yelling, according to local TV station WWBT.
"They were just screaming for anybody to help them," the station quoted her as saying.
Officers have searched on the ground but had to rule out an air search due to stormy conditions overnight.
The crash is believed to have happened near the site of the Mid-Atlantic Balloon Festival.
The festival was scheduled to begin today but organisers have cancelled the event, according to reports.
