Hugh Jackman preserved voice for Les Miserables shoot
Hugh Jackman went to extreme measures to protect his voice while filming Les Miserables, often going days at a time without speaking.
The X-Men star would regularly spend up to 10 hours a day singing for his role as Jean Valjean, so he embraced a special diet and exercise regime and went on vocal rest during his days off, much to the annoyance of his family.
He explains, "There's no coffee, there's no dairy. There's eight hours sleep. I drink hot water with lemon all day long. I would go on vocal rest some days where I wouldn't speak at all. I think my family can't wait 'til I have finished this job because it's like 'Who is this monk who is living with us who's going through some kind of vow of silence?'"
