Ian Brown blasts royal family at Stone Roses gig

Singer Ian Brown took aim at the royal family during the Stone Roses' homecoming show in Manchester on Friday, branding them "parasites".

The reunited band took to the stage for the first of three record-breaking outdoor gigs in its hometown, but Brown provided a moment of controversy during the triumphant concert.

Introducing their anti-royal track Elizabeth My Dear, the frontman referenced the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, telling the crowd, "This song's dedicated to those parasites down the road (in London)... celebrating 60 years of tyranny."

The huge concert was also hit by reports a bar area was "trashed" when hundreds of fans lining up for a drink were caught up in a dangerous crush.

what do you think?

Er so the Queen and the RF are like Franco and Saddam? I don't think so not a royalist but this is just silly coming from an almost 50 year old man.

The list of people using public money for their own ends is endless in fact, unfortunately, a lot of ordinary workers are prone to getting out whatever they can fiddle too. But it is nice to know there are honest whiter that white people still around like you.

What a scruffy looking individual Ian Brown looks, not much of an advert for his country. The Monarchy show cases the U.K. wonderfully to the rest of the world, giving us great advertising and boosting the tourist industry. What would an expensive jumped up President give us ? You can bet your bottom dollar we wouldn`t save any money. With our pageantry and wonderful organisation of fabulous historical events we are the envy of a lot of other countries. France secretly wishes they had not bumped their royals off. For what its worth understand the the Royal Family cost us 60p per head a year, what a bargain!!!
