Idina Menzel misses Marvin Hamlisch

Singer Idina Menzel's visit to the U.K. this week has been particularly poignant as it comes exactly one year after she made the trip with her late collaborator Marvin Hamlisch.

The Broadway star jetted to London last October to perform a concert with Hamlisch at the city's prestigious Royal Albert Hall, marking one of the legendary composer's last U.K. appearances.

Menzel returned to the capital earlier this week for a series of shows at the Apollo Theatre, but admits being in the country has reminded her of her dear friend Hamlisch, who died as a result of lung failure in August.

She tells TV show This Morning, "(The Royal Albert Hall show) was so special, we were just talking about that backstage.

"It's going to be kind of hard for me getting up there at the Apollo where I'm playing without him. It's been quite an adjustment just being onstage without him. He kind of gave me a confidence and just made it fun. I just, you know, really miss him."
