Iggy Pop tackles French tracks on new album
Punk icon Iggy Pop has recorded an album made up of French-language covers.
Apres will feature new renditions of songs by Serge Gainsbourg, Edith Piaf and Georges Brassens, as well as the Lust For Life singer's take on tracks by the Beatles and Yoko Ono.
A statement from Pop reads, "I wanted to sing some of these songs myself, hoping to bring the feeling I felt as a listener to my listeners through my voice.
"Many of these songs are in French, probably because it is French culture which has most stubbornly resisted the mortal attacks of the Anglo-American music machine."
Apres will be released next month.
