Jay Leno's Final Guests On Tonight Revealed

American late-night talk show host Jay Leno has opted to close his 22-year run at NBC's The Tonight Show with a nod to the future and the past.

Leno's heir apparent, Jimmy Fallon, will kick off the outgoing host's week with a guest appearance on February 3.

Fallon is taking over the gig after hosting NBC's Late Night since 2009.

Leno's final night, on February 6, will feature Billy Crystal, who was his first guest in May 1992 when he succeeded Johnny Carson.

Country superstar Garth Brooks will also appear.

Leno's last week will also include Betty White, Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, country singer Blake Shelton, musician Lyle Lovett and former NBA star Charles Barkley.

Fallon starts his run on February 17 during the second week of the network's Winter Olympics coverage.

Will Smith and U2 have been booked as guests for the former Saturday Night Live star's maiden Tonight spot.

The iconic late-night show is also moving from Los Angeles to New York when Fallon takes over.

Leno's departure marks the second time he has left the show.

Conan O'Brien replaced him in 2009, but after six months of poor ratings, O'Brien was out and Leno returned.

NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt is hoping to continue the network's relationship with Leno after he leaves late night TV.

"I would love him to do specials with us, and we've got ideas about other sorts of shows he can host," said Mr Greenblatt.

"As he told me recently, NBC has really been his only home."

He said Leno did not want to discuss his future until he finished his final week.
