Jessie J was caught shoplifting as a teen

Singer Jessie J once tried to wriggle out of a shoplifting charge by making a joke about rapper Shaggy's hit song It Wasn't Me.

The Domino hitmaker has confessed she was caught by security guards at a store after trying to steal a hooded top emblazoned with the track's title when she was a teenager.

In her upcoming memoirs, the singer writes, "I stole a hoodie (sic) once from Atlantic Clothing that had 'It wasn't me' written on it when the Shaggy tune was big... Security didn't find it funny when I said I was joking."
