Jesus Christ Superstar tour dates postponed

The arena tour of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's rebooted Jesus Christ Superstar stage show starring Melanie Chisholm has been postponed by seven months.

The tour, which also features comedian/musician Tim Minchin as Judas Iscariot, was set to take to the road in March but has been put back until October.

A statement on the show's official website suggests huge demand for tickets around the world has forced bosses to rethink the tour's schedule.

The message reads, "Due to circumstances beyond their control (touring companies) RUG and AEG are rescheduling the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour dates originally planned for March. This is due to the enormous demand across the Globe with tours in Australia, Europe and USA to be announced soon."

Tickets for the March shows will be valid later in the year. The trek will now kick off in Glasgow, Scotland on 01 October.

The rebooted production debuted at London's O2 Arena last September after a TV talent show hunt to find an unknown performer to play Jesus Christ.
