John Hannah bored of TV cop dramas

Spartacus star John Hannah has branded British TV bosses "lazy" for saturating the small screen with police dramas.

Hannah, who played a screen cop himself in TV series Rebus, believes the procedural thrillers are all too similar because channel chiefs don't allow writers to come up with a different take.

He tells The Sun, "I think we have got too many. I don't blame the actors, I think there is a laziness in the commissioning of them. Every time there is a new one we are told there is a new cop in town and he's different. Well he's not, he is just black this one. Or that one is not different, there is just more blood. They don't give the writers enough time, they don't have enough balls to make it different enough, they make it exactly the same as the last one, with a tiny difference."

And he claims that it's not only audiences bored with maverick police officers on the screen, adding, "The only people more bored with cop dramas than the viewers are the actors that have to go through it. We have to say that s**t."
