Jon Favreau to make big screen Jersey Boys

Iron Man director Jon Favreau is adapting hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys for the big screen.

The filmmaker is due to begin shooting the project, which tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, in early 2013 in New York and New Jersey.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, he confirms, "Yes, I'm directing Jersey Boys, and there's an open call for the lead roles."

Producers are currently casting the four lead male performers to portray Valli and his bandmates Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi.

The show debuted on Broadway in November 2005 and went on to win a slew of trophies, including four Tony Awards and a Grammy, while the London production was named best new musical at the Laurence Olivier Awards in 2008.
