Journey scrap Philippines gig after slow ticket sales
Rockers Journey have axed an upcoming show in the Philippines due to low ticket sales.
The band was scheduled to perform at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines on 21 March, but they have now called off the concert.
The musicians have put the cancellation down to slow sales due to the upcoming Easter holiday and an election in the country, and assured fans they will return on their next trip to Asia.
Filipino frontman Arnel Pineda insists he is disappointed to be missing the chance to play on home soil.
A statement from the singer reads, "Due to the extreme importance of the Easter holiday in my home country, as well as the deserved widespread media attention on the upcoming election in Manila, the ticket sales for Journey's upcoming show have understandably been somewhat slow. We have decided it is best for everyone to postpone the Manila concert until the next time Journey tours in Asia.
"We are very sorry that we won't be able to see our fans this year, but we will see you again soon. You know we all love to play in Manila!"
