Julian Assange Stars In Spoof Election Video
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is standing for election in Australia's upcoming poll next month, has sent himself up in a satirical rap about the nation's politics.
Despite being holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, the platinum-haired whistleblower makes a surprising guest appearance in Rap Juice Media's spoof news episode.
Donning a mullet, Mr Assange performs - in his own words - his version of John Farnham's hit song You're The Voice.
He starts with the words: "We have a chance to turn the pages over. We can write what we want to write. We got to make things to leak so we can much bolder."
Mr Assange is standing along with six other WikiLeaks Party candidates in the September 7 election.
He has vowed to be an "independent scrutineer of government activity" on a range of issues including tax reform and climate change policy.
Were his Australian political experiment to work, Mr Assange said he planned to export the WikiLeaks Party model to the US, Ireland and elsewhere.
Mr Assange has been living inside Ecuador's embassy in Knightsbridge since June last year as he fights extradition from Britain to Sweden, where authorities want to question him over alleged sex crimes.
