Justin Lee Collins addresses harassment conviction

Justin Lee Collins has decided not to launch an appeal after he was found guilty of harassing his ex-girlfriend.

On Tuesday, a jury found the comedian guilty of harassing Anna Larke and making her fear violence during their seven-month relationship last year.

Larke accused Lee Collins of making death threats and subjecting her to foul-mouthed rants, while the TV presenter denied the accusations.

Now the star has spoken out to admit he regrets the "distress and anguish" caused by his actions, but vows not to appeal the conviction.

He says, "I deeply regret the distress and anguish I have caused by my behaviour in what was a very troubled and difficult relationship with Anna Larke.

"After careful reflection in the last 24 hours, I have decided not to proceed with an appeal against my conviction. I would like to reiterate what I made clear in court, that I have never used or threatened violence against Anna Larke or anybody in my life.

"I accept that the jury have found elements of my conduct amounted to harassment, which I apologise for unreservedly, but I will never accept the allegation that I am violent or an abuser."

Lee Collins has been sentenced to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work in his local community.

Very carefully worded statement. Poor girl. At least he apologises but I'm not convinced he accepts he was in the wrong or that he needs to alter his behaviour patterns going forward. We'll see.
