Kanye West Believes He Is 'Smartest Celebrity'

Kanye West has claimed he is the "smartest celebrity" and is "not Britney Spears" in a leaked deposition transcript.

The rapper was giving evidence in the case where he was accused of assaulting photographer Daniel Ramos at LAX airport last year.

West told the paparazzo's lawyer Nate Goldberg: "I'm in the business of trying to make dope s**t for the world. You're in the business of representing scums and trying to make as much money as long as there's this lapse in the law."

After swearing under oath he said: "I'm the smartest celebrity you've ever f******g dealt with. I'm not Britney Spears."

Spears reportedly attacked Mr Ramos with an umbrella in 2007.

West, who is known for his outspoken comments, also compared celebrities fighting for privacy to the campaign for black civil rights in the 1960s, in the documents acquired by TMZ.

"We, as group of minorities here in LA, as celebrities have to band together to influence guys like this - guys trying to take the picture, guys trying to get the big win, guys trying to get the cheque."

During the hearing Mr Goldberg quizzed West about his song Flashing Lights which is a rant about the paparazzi and quoted from the song: "Till I get flashed by the paparazzi, damn these n*****rs got me."

But this did not go down well with the singer who interrupted him to say the lawyer had to have a "hall pass" to use the expletive.

"You can't just say the n-word around me. It offends me because you're a white person saying n****r," he said.

West, who has a daughter with his wife Kim Kardashian, is sarcastic throughout the deposition.

When Mr Goldberg asks him where he lives, he replies: "Earth."

West was sentenced to two years probation, 250 hours of community service and anger management sessions after pleading no contest to the battery charge.

He still faces a civil case brought by Mr Ramos who says he is suffering emotionally and physically, according to the Los Angeles Times. The deposition was part of that suit.
