Karate Kid sequel gets go ahead

Will Smith's son Jaden is set to high-kick his way back on to the big screen in a sequel to his The Karate Kid reboot.

The teen teamed up with Jackie Chan for the 2010 action movie, which was an update of the classic 1984 hit starring Ralph Macchio.

The release was a success and pulled in more than £218 million at the global box office - and now studio executives have put plans in place for a follow-up.

According to industry publication Variety, The Incredible Hulk screenwriter Zak Penn has been hired to write the script and both Smith and Chan are lined up to reprise their roles.
