Kim Kardashian apologises for Israel/Palestine posts

Kim Kardashian has publicly apologised for wading into the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians by publishing a pair of ill-advised tweets.

The reality TV star offended many of her followers by trying to play online peace envoy on Friday as tensions in the Middle East reached boiling point after Palestinian militants fired a rocket on Jerusalem.

Her first tweet read, "Praying for everyone in Israel," and she followed that with, "Praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world!"

She later deleted both tweets and issued an apology, writing, "I want to own up to and explain that earlier today I sent out two tweets about saying prayers for the people in Palestine and Israel and after hearing from my followers, I decided to take down the tweets because I realized that some people were offended and hurt by what I said, and for that I apologize.

"I should have pointed out my intentions behind these tweets when I posted them. The fact is that regardless of religion and political beliefs, there are countless innocent people involved who didn't choose this, and I pray for all of them and also for a resolution. I also pray for all the other people around the world who are caught in similar crossfires."

what do you think?

Why should she feel the need to apologise for that! What the hell is happening to free speech in this country!

I think this is probably teh most intelligent comment made by a "celebrity" in years. Wish she hadn't felt the need to aplogise! They need all the prayer and help they can get!

Why would you have to apologise for that? Even if the woman knows nothing of what's going on, offering prayers if she's religious is surely a kind thing to do. Who was offended? Have I missed something again?!

Reading between the lines, her first tweet was pro israeli. I wonder if that caused the outrage and then she tried to plaster over the cracks with the second tweet. I think that may be what happened?

Yep - I agree. Mind you, if there were Palestinians in Israel scrapping with the Israelis, then I suppose they would have been included in her prayers for those "in Israel". I don't know. Either way, aren't people picky? I would also suggest that maybe Ms K was unaware of the political minefield she had stumbled upon. Poor egg.
